Virtual Tabla

The Virtual Tabla is a simulation of the Indian classical percussion instrument called the Tabla. You must have Adobe Flash Player installed to run this web-application.

Functionality:

• Use your mouse or touch-sensitive screen to play individual sounds, and watch the two drums light up
• Use your computer keyboard or touch-sensitive screen to play combined sounds - where the bayan (left drum) and tabla (right drum) are struck at the same time
• Listen and join-in to the Virtual Tabla's synthetic musical accompaniment and auto-play mode

History

This project was started in 2007 and was featured in numerous online publications, blog posts, and even a Danish online newspaper. Although the main hosting site was taken down, and web application technology has since matured, I've kept it here for archival purposes.
